Veterinary Services

Northside Animal Hospital is a full service hospital offering comprehensive care for your pet.

Some of the services we provide include:

Advanced Pain Management

  • Pets should not suffer needlessly.  In addition to being uncomfortable, pets in pain take longer to heal.  We take active steps to prevent, recognize and reduce pain and discomfort at every stage of care.

Behavior Consultation

Dermatology

Dental Care

  • Our dentistry procedures include tooth scaling, tooth polishing, dental charting, and oral examination, including periodontal evaluation.  Treatment also includes anesthetic monitoring, pain management, and post-operative antibiotics.  We provide surgical tooth extractions and periodontal treatments as medically indicated.

Exotic Pets and Pocket Pets

  • Dr. Skarich has training and experience providing veterinary care to exotic pets (snakes, turtles, tortoises and lizards) and pocket pets (rabbits, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs and ferrets).

Full-Service Pharmacy

  • For your convenience, we maintain a full pharmacy so that we can fill your pet’s prescription while you are here.  Our prices are similar to internet retailers and big box stores.  Plus, we offer something they never will, which is priceless: our dedication to you and your pet. We offer local information and peace of mind if any questions or concerns arise about your pet’s medication.

Geriatric Care

In-House Laboratory Services

  • Blood tests
  • Urinalysis
  • Stool analysis
  • Cytology

Microchipping

  • Pet collars and tags are crucial, but can be lost (or removed.)  Microchips are a permanent form of identification and can be implanted while your pet is at the office for surgery or an office visit.

Nutrition and Weight Management Consultation

  • Maintaining a healthy weight is an important part of helping your pet live a long and happy life.  Please talk with Dr. Skarich and our team about your pet’s healthy body weight and how to care for your pet with diet, exercise and behavioral changes.

Preventative Care

  • Wellness care is the easiest and most effective way to keep your pet healthy and happy.  Preventative medicine helps animals stay healthy and it catches concerns before they become more problematic.  Not to mention, it is the best way to save on healthcare costs for your pet long-term.  We recommend an annual physical, blood work for heartworm disease (spread by mosquitoes), parasite screen for intestinal worms, and regular vaccines, which are specifically recommended by Dr. Skarich for your pet.
  • An annual parasite screen (aka: stool sample) checks for intestinal parasites, which are harmful to your pet and contagious to people, especially children, older people and anyone with a compromised immune system.

Surgical and Anesthetic Monitoring

  • A Doctor and/or Veterinary Technician are with your pet the entire time they are under anesthesia.  During surgery, we carefully monitor all pets by utilizing wireless technology.  This includes continuous ECG monitoring, blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, body temperature and respiration rate.  Additional support for your anesthetized pet may include IV fluids and medication for pain management.  Your pet is placed into a kennel where they are continuously monitored and once fully awake offered food, water and walked outside.  Your pet is treated to a full day of TLC.
